Sarah Devoyon (b. 1995), born in Paris to a family of musicians and educated at the Espoo Music School, graduated from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts with a Master's degree in Music Education in July 2022. She has also studied at the Lyon Conservatoire in France. In addition to cello, Sarah has studied, among others, piano, classical and pop/jazz singing, viola, bass, guitar and clarinet.
Sarah has performed all over Finland and abroad, including Latvia, France, Italy and China. In addition to solo performances, Sarah is an experienced ensemble player. She was a soloist in the Tapiola Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2009-2014 as a cellist and played in the Jean Sibelius Orchestra from 2011-2015. She was 1st cellist in Opera BOX's 2022 productions of Muumiooppera (the Moomin Opera) and Ranskalainen ilta (the French Evening). She also played on the farewell tour of Paul Oxley's Unit in 2019 and is currently a member of the backing band of Sony Music Finland artist Ilta. Sara is active in all kinds of projects, both solo and in various line-ups.
In addition, Sarah teaches cello, including at the Espoo Music Institute during the 2020–2021 and 2023–2024 academic years, at the Vantaa Music School during the 2022–2023 academic year and in the spring of 2026, and at the Lappeenranta Music School during the 2025–2026 academic year. In August 2026, Sarah will begin working as a cello instructor at the Mikkeli Music School.
At the Mänttä Music Festival, Sarah is responsible for the planning and artistic realisation of the concert series Yhteistä hyvää kaikille (Common Good for All) together with Julia Ilomäki. Read more about the Common Good for All concerts.
