“His demeanour and technique… radiate calm, yet the precision and speed of his fingerwork can be quite shattering. Seldom, if ever, have I encountered such a combination of evident modesty and utter brilliance” – Sunday Times
Spanish pianist Javier Perianes is one of the most interesting and sought-after pianists of his generation in the world. He is a familiar guest in Finland as a soloist with orchestra, but it is only now in Mänttä that we will hear a complete recital from him. And what a delight it will be! A real Friday night feast awaits as Perianes performs a brilliantly virtuosic and sensual programme of music by Spanish composers de Falla, Albéniz and Granados, as well as works in Debussy’s Spanish style.
Artistic Director of the Mänttä Music Festival Niklas Pokki introduces the concert in the Kivijärvi Hall at 18:00 (in Finnish). Estimated starting time of the intermission is 19:10. The concert ends approximately at 20:20.
